Tanzania 600t/d Gold Mineral Processing Plant

Project Overview

This project is a 600t/d gold processing plant located in Tanzania. The original plant applied a gravity separation process; however, due to the fine dissemination of gold (with most particles smaller than 13 μm), the recovery efficiency was low and economic performance was unsatisfactory.

To improve gold recovery, Xinhai Mining was commissioned to redesign and upgrade the plant. Based on ore characteristics, a full-slime cyanidation process with carbon adsorption was adopted to replace the original gravity-based flowsheet.

Xinhai Solution

• Two-Stage Closed-Circuit Crushing: A two-stage crushing circuit was adopted following the principle of “more crushing, less grinding,” reducing the ore size to ≤15 mm for efficient grinding.
• Two-Stage Closed-Circuit Grinding and Classification: A two-stage grinding system with hydrocyclone classification was applied, achieving a fineness of approximately 90% passing 200 mesh. Process water is largely recycled within the circuit, and partial gold leaching occurs during grinding.
• Cyanidation Leaching and Adsorption (CIL): The ground slurry is thickened before entering the CIL circuit, enabling efficient recovery of gold and silver through leaching and carbon adsorption.
• Desorption, Smelting, and Tailings Treatment: Gold is recovered through high-temperature, high-pressure desorption and electrolysis, followed by smelting to produce doré bars. Tailings are dewatered by filtration, with filtrate recycled and filter cake dry-stacked.

Project Achievements

The plant was successfully upgraded and achieved stable operation at the designed capacity. The optimized process significantly improved gold recovery for fine-grained ore, achieving a leaching rate of approximately 91.6% and a carbon adsorption efficiency of about 99%.
